St Baume
According to the ancient Gypsy legend Mary Magdalene arrived by boat with her exiled companions at Saint Marie de la Mer in the Camargue in Southern France. She then travelled with Maximin and her brother (John the Beloved) through Provence, the Aude and Ariege of Southern France on a mission of evangelization. Some say that she decided to spend her last years in contemplation in the Saint Baume mountain cave in Provence.
Thousands of pilgrims have come to this holy site over the centuries, including eight popes and eighteen kings, whilst four Dominican monks still continue to live up there. For me, this is the cave of the Beloved. It is where I came to call forth for my Love, and it is where I send all fellow Sacred Union travellers.
