Candlemas: Imbolc of Brigid
Join me on the Eve of Saint Brigid's Day, as we travel through Imbolc and Candlemas weaving together the fullness of this Feminine Tradition. For centuries, Candlemas (February 2) continues to be a time of purification for the Virgin Mary after giving birth to Jesus. Her purification required her to make an animal sacrifice and to offer up her son for circumcision.
Both these rituals have no place in my heart.
Imbolc ('in the belly of the mother') is the Pagan Fire Festival that marks the hidden entrance to Spring on February the 1st. February the 1st is also known as St Brigid's Day, a day that celebrates women's creativity and has long symbolised hope, renewal, and the feminine.
That tells me - these three things are connected.
Feminine. Birth. Light.
Join me for three days of purification as we put out our offerings for Saint Brigid to bless as she walks the Earth on the 31st, celebrate the conception of fire on the 1st and realease the Light into the World by first seeing precisely what it illuminates on the 2nd.
During these three transmissions, we will bless our candles to cast forth a special kind of seeing as things are recognised for what they really are.
This feast will give us the chance to learn again or maybe see for the first time who God is and who we need to be in response.
