Tongues of Fire, Thresholds of the Soul

Pentecost is the descent of the Spirit into the gathered body, the moment when the frightened, hidden, waiting disciples become voices of holy utterance. The flame descends. The tongue is consecrated. Speech becomes transmissive. The soul is no longer merely comforted by Christ; it is commissioned by the Spirit.
