What the Hell is Happening?
From my remote home in the French Pyrenees, I find myself gazing across the vast expanse towards the United States of America, and a sense of unease grips me.
It's confusing (devil's greatest trick) to sense what is happening, as it seems Christianity is rising. And yet.
And yet, my heart tells me something else.
It was a few years back, amidst the upheaval of the Covid era, that I witnessed a 'Born Again' fervor in many people I knew. My initial reaction was one of joy, quickly overshadowed by a profound sense of sorrow.
Because it wasn't true. They had got caught up in something else.
This 'something else' appears to be gaining momentum in a rigourous and infectous way.
It's difficult to discern. As it's running tandem to that which has no name, but is known.
Where I live in France, we have a history of the Inquisition, a judicial procedure where the ecclesiastical judges could initiate, investigate and try cases in their jurisdiction.
It feels like something like that is on the horizon again.
Even at the beginning of Christ's ministry on Earth, disputes among the Apostles lead to division, diversion and disruption, the calling card of the one who is adversarial to goodness.
The question, as always, is whether we will behave differently this time.
That's hard to answer, but it does not mean it cannot happen.
I do sense an uprising and a downpouring are coming.
And it's what we have been waiting for.
